# Science and Education Meet Web3

Science and Education are the driving forces of global progress, but both face significant challenges in their current state. Science seems to be deviating from its inherent purpose, while education remains rooted in the industrial age.

There is a need for a paradigm shift in the way educational content is distributed, as well as in the way scientific advances are disseminated and propagated. This paradigm shift aligns perfectly with the power of Web3 technologies, which are often associated with bad practices and fraudulent schemes. Blockchain, NFTs, and Tokens can be much more than just speculative instruments, expensive images (or PFPs), or pure scams. The emergence of Web3 technologies driven by the ethos of decentralization and ownership could potentially transform the way we create and interact with Education and Science.

Fortunately, there are already movements gaining momentum dedicated exclusively to these issues. One such movement is the DeSci ecosystem.

### :test\_tube: DeSci Ecosystem

The DeSci (Decentralized Science) ecosystem represents a flourishing field that leverages blockchain technology and decentralized principles to revolutionize scientific research, funding, collaboration, and dissemination. The goal of DeSci is to address long-standing issues in the traditional scientific ecosystem, such as funding bottlenecks, access to research, transparency, and reproducibility.

### Research and Publishing

One of the biggest challenges facing traditional science, and one that becomes clear to anyone involved, is the extensive list of requirements that have to be met before and after the research takes place. Here are some of the challenges:

* Paper is the main/only source of knowledge
* Gatekeeping
* Intellectual Property
* Peer Reviews
* High Fees

Publed offers you a way to solve these problems in a decentralized way by letting you **aggregate your knowledge** in **Knowledge Objects**. That serves as a **Proof of Ownership** because everything is stored on-chain.

As you can see above, users can easily post their Knowledge Artifacts (PDFs, slides, mp4, etc.) and start a discussion with the community about it. This is a way of sharing and interacting with other people in a decentralized fashion where you have real ownership of your work.

# Agent Instructions: Querying This Documentation

If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.publed.io/introduction/publed-1/science-and-education-meet-web3.md?ask=<question>
```

The question should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
